Mike Brown Ferguson Shooting

Recently the news has been buzzing about the death of an eighteen year old man named Michael Brown who was shot and killed by a police officer (Darren Wilson) in Ferguson, Missouri. This story caught my eye because once again a young black male was killed by a police officer and the officer was not charged with any account of murder. I'm sick and tired of stuff like this happening because there is no excuse for taking away someone's life. I understand that sometimes the police are just trying to do there job but using their guns are not always the answer. In this case, Mike Brown apparently had his hands up but still ended up being shot to death. In my opinion I think the officer was in the wrong because firing shots should be the last resort. At the end of the day the officer is the one who has the gun, the bulletproof vest, and the upper hand against someone in Mike Brown's position. The police always claim that they shoot to defend themselves but what I would like to know is, how much damage can an unarmed person do to a police officer who has weapons and is trained for combat? I think there is no excuse for what this officer did and I cannot have respect for the legal system when an officer's brutality goes un-punished. I know that race is not always a factor however I seriously think that in this situation if the roles were reversed and it was a black officer and a white teenager, the officer would have been charged with some kind of murder. Here in Canada I feel like things are a lot better and justice is served more consistently then in America, however we still have our legal problems as well. Something needs to be done to ensure that justice is served to those who need it and I think this world still has a lot of problems that need to be solved. No one is above the law, not even police themselves and I am really disappointed in the outcome of this Mike Brown case. I just pray that his family can pull through and I hope that nothing like this will happen again anytime soon.
