Gym Candy: Next Steps
Next Steps: After reading this story I would really like to explore more about the effects of drugs, specifically steroids. In this story, Mick experiences some physical side effects and some emotional side effects from the steroids. The physical effects he experienced were zits on his chest and back but also his nipples got big and puffy. Emotionally he experienced, great depression and random bursts of rage. Both the physical and emotional effects were really bad and Mick was not even on the steroids for that long. I would like to find out what effects happen when you are on steroids for a really long time and don't take any breaks. I winder how bad it would effect your health and what it will do to you. I'm really concerned/interested in the emotional side effects because they shocked me more. I knew about some of the physical ones but I never knew about the depression and anger before I read this story. I'm glad that I learned something new because it shows that reading this story benefited me in a lot of ways. Now I have ideas for future projects and creative pieces. For starters I would like to write an alternate ending to the story and change certain stuff and possibly extend it a little. A difficult project that I would like to do would be to write a short story that serves as a sequel to this one. I would make it so Mick has made it to the NFL but his past comes back to haunt him and steroids are re-introduced to him which means he must fight himself out of a difficult situation. There are also plenty ideas that I got from this book that I could use in an essay, the main topic would most likely be about the effects of drugs. This book gave me lots of great ideas on how to notify people what drugs can do to you and it also gave me insight and showed me the perspective of the person doing the drugs as well. One important thing I learned was never trust people who encourage you to do drugs, no matter how nice or kind they seem. No matter what, they are wrong and need help themselves. This book really helps show how horrible drugs really are and I would recommend it to any young person so that it can notify them about the effects of steroids etc. This book showed me that you can't rely on drugs to help you do the things you can't do on your own and there is no excuse for taking them what so ever. Drugs don't help anyone and it doesn't only affect you but also the people around you. So overall there are many things I can do with the knowledge that I received from reading this book and I will see to it that none of this knowledge is wasted.
